PosiGen is a solar energy company that prides itself on making solar power more accessible to every kind of budget. Historically, making the switch to solar energy options within the home has been costly. Because of this, CEO at PosiGen Thomas Neyhart explains, solar energy has not been a viable option for many families.
However, led by Thomas Neyhart, companies like PosiGen are hoping to change that. PosiGen’s mission is to provide solar options for more homes across the socioeconomic spectrum to help our environment. In doing so, this would not only be helpful to our environment but also provides more jobs. PosiGen prides itself on hiring a diverse staff that also lives in the communities they are helping to sustain.
In fact, according to PosiGen’s website, over half of their workforce is made up of people of color or women. Thomas Neyhart recalls that the company says that its aim in focusing on lower-income communities is to create viable solar options.
These solar power options would ultimately help lower the energy bills for the community members that PosiGen serves. The company originated not long after Hurricane Katrina hit in 2005 when the founders saw a need for more accessibility for lower-income neighborhoods. The company maintains that every home should have access to clean and renewable energy that is not only better for the environment but better, overall, for the homeowner’s dwelling as well as their pocketbook. Thomas Neyhart finally adds that PosiGen’s big claim is that it is not so much about the company making money as it is about making sure that its customers are able to save more money.
