In 1998, Randal Nardone co-founded Fortress Investment Group and currently serves as the company’s principal. He was appointed as the Interim chief executive officer in December 2011 until July 2013. Randal Nardone was then permanently assigned to the position in August 2013 and served as the CEO until December 2017. With his leadership, Fortress Investment Group rose and became one of the leading portfolio management and asset-based investments.
Before his journey with Fortress Investment Group, Randal Nardone was a partner at Thacher Proffitt & Wood Law firm. He was also a principal at BlackRock Financial Management, Inc. He also served as the managing director of UBS. Randal did not limit himself to one endeavor; instead, he expanded into other ventures. These include serving as a director at Brookdale Senior Living Inc. He also served as the Secretary of Drive Shack Inc. from June 2002 until September 2016.
Randal also served as the director of Eurocastle Investment Limited and was one of the board of directors of Alea Group Holdings (Bermuda) Ltd. Several other positions in other companies include portfolio manager, CEO, and secretary at RIC Coinvestment Fund LP, Chairman and President of Springleaf Financial Holdings, LLC, and Vice President and Secretary of Newcastle Investment Holdings, LLC. Aside from these, Randal Nardone was one of the key figures in Softbank’s acquisition of Fortress in 2017. According to him, it was the right decision towards investing into other profitable ventures. He acknowledged the massive financial muscle of SoftBank. He also believes that the $3.3 billion acquisition from the Japanese banking giant is a big leap to achieve more financial gains on the investors of both Fortress and SoftBank.
In 2018, Nardone was listed on the 557th spot of Forbes Magazine’s billionaires’ list. Looking at his academic background, no one would think that Randal would have a career in the financial investment industry. He took up the degree of Bachelor of Arts in English and Biology at the University of Connecticut. After that, he went to Boston University School of Law to earn his Doctor of Jurisprudence degree. Randal Nardone believes that his education has been a very important element in his success as well as in his journey at Fortress Investment Group where he made himself a billionaire.
